Finding Mr. Ranbir Singh

Mr. Surat Singh ji ,

An article was published recently in Tehelka magazine “A Taliban of our very Own” . writer of this article give reference of some MR. Ranbir Singh and took some part of their research paper as follows.

Ranbir Singh, a sociologist who has worked extensively on castes in Haryana gives an interesting explanation for the dominance of Khaps in Haryana. A research paper he has authored states, "Jats, being marginal farmers, have not only been bypassed by the process of economic development but have been further marginalized by it. This is because they could not take advantage of the Green Revolution due to their tiny and uneconomic land holdings, could not enter modern professions due to a lack of academic qualifications and could not take up some other occupations due to caste pride. Their lot has been made even more difficult by the processes of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation. Their disenchantment with political leadership has made these pauperised peasants look backwards instead of forward."

We have a query :
Is the same Ranbir singh is working with you( Haryana Institute of Rural Development,Nilokheri) ?, if yes Please pass on my queries to him as he didn’t mention his email id , if not , than please help me in finding this real Ranbir singh .

My Queries to Mr. Ranbir Singh.

(1) Jats , being Marginal farmers : Sir , if Jat is marginal farmers , which other community has the larger land holdings than Jats in the bread basket of India ( Punjab,Haryana ,Western UP) ?. Are you taking term “Marginal” with respect to
Landholing of US , Australia or Canada . Or with some other part of India , then please compare the produce of land also. Highest farmers suicide are reported from Maharashtra , and other southern states and these farmers hold 20,30,40 acre of lands. I hardly hear any farmer suicide from bread basket reagion.

(2) have not only been bypassed by the process of economic development but have been further marginalized by it. This is because they could not take advantage of the Green Revolution due to their tiny and uneconomic land holdings : Sir , as far I know Haryana and Punjab are top of the chart of highest per capita income state wise . District wise, Muzaffarnagar ( Western UP) comes at No. 1 in terms of per capita income and at no. 8th in the world . One Thesil of Muzaffarnagr “Shamli” paid highest LIC premium . Apart from Metros , Muzaffarnagar spend highest on clothings.
These parameters clearly show , Jats reaped the benefit of green revolution and certainly not marginalized economically. Infect they make the green revolution successful. If not Jats then who reaped the benefits , please enlighten us.

(3) could not enter modern professions due to a lack of academic qualifications and could not take up some other occupations due to caste pride. Their lot has been made even more difficult by the processes of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation.

Sir , don’t know on which planet you are living of late . If you have data please share ,.

(4) Their disenchantment with political leadership has made these pauperised peasants look backwards instead of forward."

Sir , “disenchantment” , When . Can any political party write them off in Haryana, Punjab, Rajashthan and western UP . These states ( sans W-UP) are having Jat CM regularly .
Literal meaning of “ Pauperize” is to make extremely poor , making them living on public charity. You would really need a good deal of temerity to justify such an absurd term . I’ve already written my view on it , Jats and jatland is producing daily diet for this country . You juts remove all the produce from this area and make a projection , 25 % population of this country will die because of starvation on your paper only.

So , Mr. Surat Singh and Mr. Ranbir singh ji, probably you can sense the resentment we have about the research paper , this was used by the writer of Tehlka article to further tarnish the image of Jat Community.

I’m not able to understand how can your institute patronize such a blunder .

We really want to listen your views or Mr. Ranbir singh’s view on it , all the members of “JatHistory” group spread across the world waiting for your reply.

Regards
Arvind Malik

( Please find attached , my reply on the article published in Tehelka , if you visit the Jathistory yahoo group , you can see the what other members feel . and at last ,we personally really don’t need any institute , professor or consultant to understand our community , it’s heritage and I’m sure these propaganda will not deter us from helping our community in all possible way and building a better future than today. )
